SEO Squeeze #62: When Is Your Website Most Alive?
One quick thing you can do to better your SEO today.
Are you a night owl or an early riser?
It's 9 p.m. and I'm just now hitting send on this email. Because real life happened today— family time, messy schedules, no batching, and here we are.
And it got me wondering… are you still scrolling right now too?
Naturally, like the SEO nerd I am, I pulled up our Google Analytics and here's what I found:
Our website traffic peaks around lunchtime to early afternoon (think 12–2 p.m.)
1 p.m. is our busiest hour, and engagement is highest around 12 p.m.
Evenings like this? Still active… but not where the magic peaks
So even though I'm up late sending this, our audience is most active mid-day—which means that's when we should be showing up with blog posts, emails, or content launches.
And chances are you'll read this email tomorrow, but that's okay by me because there is zero urgency with this email. I am just fulfilling my Sunday Squeeze promise. 🍊
Curious how we did this? Let's find out when your people are online.
How To Find Out When Your Website Gets the Most Traffic:
All you need is Google Analytics and I promise to keep this beginner-friendly.
Go to Reports → then click Acquisition → then Traffic Acquisition.
Don't forget to check the upper right hand corner to see what timeframe you have selected— 28 days, 90 days, etc.
Once you're looking at the table, click the little “+” icon at the top and choose Time and then Hour.
Boom! You'll now see what time of day people are actually visiting your site and you'll be able to see this by traffic source— Search, Social, Direct, etc.
Why does this matter?
If your people are scrolling at 9 p.m. (hello fellow night owls), you might want to publish or email then— not at 8 a.m. when they're wrangling kids and chugging coffee.
Knowing when your site is busiest = smarter timing for content, launches, and sales.
Try it out this week and let us know what time your people show up.
Happy optimizing, friend!
