SEO Squeeze #108: Introducing Preferred Sources!
One quick thing you can do to better your SEO today.
There’s a new setting inside Google that lets your biggest fans put YOU at the top of their search results.
It’s called Preferred Sources.
When someone marks your site as one of their preferred sources, your pages get a little “Preferred“ label and show up higher for them, not just in a regular Google search, but inside AI Overviews and AI Mode too.
Most of SEO comes down to Google’s algorithm deciding if you’re worthy. This one flips that. Your reader decides.
A quick note: It won’t show for every search, and it doesn’t touch your rankings. But it does give the people who already love you an easy way to see more of you. And we like that right, friend?
The best part? You hand your audience a link and they tap a button.

First head here: google.com/preferences/source?q=duocollective.com
Click that box (if you decide we are a trusted source of course!) And voila… you just made us a trusted source in your Google.
Now it’s your turn!
1. Grab your add-me link. It’s your website dropped into this: google.com/preferences/source?q=yoursite.com. Paste yours into a browser to test it, and you’ll see your name pop up with a checkbox.
2. Send it to your audience. Drop that link in your next newsletter, an Instagram story, or a pinned post, with one plain line like “Tap here and check the box to see more of my stuff in your Google and AI searches.”
3. Add a few of your own faves while you’re in there. Search the sites and creators you trust most and check their boxes too.
P.S. This works best when you’re publishing fresh content, since Google leans toward sites that keep showing up. Consider this your nudge to hit publish more often!
